Deleting Pins takes a very long time

When I delete a group including 15000 pins, it takes a few hours. 1500 Pins tajes about 20 minutes. This is on new iPhone 6. On my previous 4S it even took longer. Do I something wrong or is it ‘by design’? A bit of speedup woul dbe nice. When I update a Pin-file (POI’s) I first delete the old one ofcourse before loading the new one. Loading (importing) is very quick.
