    Currently, address search is provided using Nominatim, and thus only possible while being online.

    Maybe there are technical reasons to make this not possible, but in principle, the data for addresses is in the OSM-data being cached as a offline map. Why not search this information? For streets and numbers, but maybe also others …
    There is a point “Streets” in Nearby-Search, but this is not really doing the trick of a real Address search …
    Just a thought …

    There are no real technical reasons preventing this.  Its something a lot of users have requested and which we want to do. Unfortunately it is rather complicated to implement this properly, and keeps getting pushed out by more important things.  I will let you know when we have added it to our roadmap!
