Hi,
Disclaimer: Currently, we do not support the transfer of maps from one device to another in any way, officially or unofficially. If you would like to try using iFunBox, you do so at your own risk!Okay that said, you can find all maps, guides, and other content in Library/Private Documents/Data. If you want to transfer from one device to another you must copy the entire Data folder over and not try to copy only a portion of it! Additionally, you must copy over the app’s settings file found at Library/Preferences/com.geomagik.pocketearth.plistNote: All user data (everything in the Favorites lists) is located in Library/Private Documents/UDB. You’d be best off using the built-in ‚PocketEarth Archive‘ export/import functionality to sync your devices.Yea I think we can add this, thanks for the suggestion!
Hmm, well for now you can see everything by tapping on the search bar at top of the Nearby screen and typing a space 😉
Okay, thanks for the report!
Thanks for the suggestion, we will consider single pin export for a future update!
That said, in the current version PocketEarth v1.6 you can already export any group of pins, tracks, etc from the Group Detail screen. You can even use this to put a single pin in a new group and export the single pin as GPX.Note also that items can belong to multiple groups at the same time so it wont mess up your normal groups organization. You can also delete a group that was used only for export purposes easily without completely deleting the items in that group.Mai 27, 2013 um 3:38 am Uhr als Antwort auf: Location curser bug on iOS 6.1.x on PE v1.5 when no WiFi signal present #4741@Eric: I am not sure what else could be happening. If you leave the GPS enabled for a minute or so, it doesn’t begin to receive accurate location fixes? Does the GPS button appear gray colored or does it give you an error message?
Note that the GPS does need a fairly clear line of sight to 2 or 3 of the GPS satellites. This means if you are inside a dense building or between very tall building on the street it may not be able to find your location, or may loose updates until you are out of such a location for 30 seconds or so. These are limitations of the GPS system in general and the hardware on these devices and shouldn’t be specific to PocketEarth.Mai 27, 2013 um 3:32 am Uhr als Antwort auf: Better driving instruction, earlier indication of change of direction with GPS #4740@BuckyE: The GPS normally gets location updates once per second. To avoid having the map jump abruptly on update, it instead does a 1 second animation to the new location so that it is smooth. This does mean that at any given time the location shown on the map will be 1 second behind. This should generally be acceptable though, and is what all map apps that we have seen do.
Mai 27, 2013 um 3:27 am Uhr als Antwort auf: Better driving instruction, earlier indication of change of direction with GPS #4739@Trip: Normally in Navigation/Play mode, PocketEarth should be giving you maximal lead time on the turns/instructions. As soon as you pass an instruction point, then instruction should change immediately to show you the following one, even if it is quite far away. Of course, it is possible there is bug causing otherwise, but we have never seen that. Can you tell us if you are always seeing this behavior or just sometimes. Can you tell us anything else about the specific cases its doing this, for example if the route crosses over itself, etc?
We are not happy about the lack of exit numbers, etc either, but currently we rely on a 3rd party online routing service and don’t have control over this. We are investigating possible solutions.Mai 27, 2013 um 3:23 am Uhr als Antwort auf: Why city map is downloading when country map has been downloaded? #4738@Trip: If you have downloaded a country or region it includes all map data within it including all cities. If you select a city in a downloaded area however, it may save „Not Saved“ this is actually referring to the fact that it is not saved to your favorites list, and is not speaking about the maps. This could be a point of confusion which we will correct in our next update.
@BuckyE: That doesn’t sound good. App updates should not affect map data. In-app data updates affect the data in that it deletes *all* data and then downloads the latest updated data. All green star places should turn to yellow stars and maps should re-download. What you described should not happen so it sounds like there might be some obscure bug causing it to not behavior properly in some cause, though we have never seen it. We have had one other report of this and are looking into it.Mai 27, 2013 um 2:42 am Uhr als Antwort auf: Japanese being labelled incorrectly with Chinese Latin phonetic text #4737Just a quick update: While we have released v1.6 update, it was a very small update meant mainly to correct a number of important bugs and other issues in the app. We are still working on asian font support and plan to have it available in our next update. Please know that this is our TOP priority! Hopefully this will be at most one month away, but we can’t guarantee it at this point. Thank you for your patience!
Just want to mention that upside down screen orientation has been corrected.
Mai 27, 2013 um 2:37 am Uhr als Antwort auf: Speed / direction / altitude labels: improve readability #4735This was the best we could do for this quick update, but we do plan to improve this further in one of the next updates.

Mai 26, 2013 um 1:33 am Uhr als Antwort auf: Different colour for different segment of a Route #4732Currently the selected part of the route is shown in green, the rest in blue. So if the whole route is selected its all in green, but if one segment is selected, only it is shown in green. This should help some for distinguishing one segment of route from another when they cross over each other.
We’ll consider adding user definable segment colors for a coming update. We have had other requests for this. There was a bug in PocketEarth v1.5 which could cause exported GPX files to be corrupted. This has been fixed in v1.6. If you continue to have any trouble with this, please let us know and we will look into it more.
Instead of emailing the file to yourself, you could use Dropbox or the export to iTunes option. I am not sure there is a way to make this process any faster.Mai 26, 2013 um 12:46 am Uhr als Antwort auf: Speed labels also visible when not routing or tracking #4730Thanks for the bug report! Looks like this only happens in landscape when the Zoom buttons have been disabled.
Go to Settings > Advanced > GPS Arrow and you can change it from using the compass to COG (called Heading in the options :/). When using COG it does take your speed into consideration and returns to center when not moving.
On the other hand, I do not see any issues with the compass based arrow in landscape or any other orientation, provided I have calibrated the compass frist. If its close to a steel bike frame, then its understandable it may have interference. But do you by chance have the orientation lock on? That is the only thing I can think of to cause it to be off by 90°.Du kannst auch die „Mail“ App direkt vom Gerät benutzen. Öffne eine Mail mit deiner CSV-Datei im Anhang. Dann drücke auf die Anhang-Datei und wähle „PocketEarth“ aus der Liste aus. Der Import erfolgt danach automatisch.
Hi, just a quick point: You don’t have to save the pin or go through the Favorites screen to access its details. You can just tap on the Info Panel for the temporary pin to access its details directly! This at least cuts down the necessary steps to:
1. Long press to make a temp pin2. Tap anywhere on its info panel to get to details3. Select the coordinates text and chose copyThat said, we’ll consider your suggestion for a coming update!Mai 24, 2013 um 3:08 pm Uhr als Antwort auf: Coordinates settings do not effect search by coordinates #4719DM.mm coordinate entry wheels have been added in v1.6 update, available now.
