I have done several thousand miles now using PE on my motorcycle. To my mind the most useful change would be increased visibility for the present position icon, perhaps by size/colour, so that a quick glance is all that is required rather than the present close scrutiny

Incidentally, PE on an iPad works very well in the mapcase of a tankbag. The expanded view ahead is just what the doctor ordered, the capacitive capability of the screen is retained and it takes several hours on the hottest of days before the device complains (and temporarily shuts down)

Well, that was very interesting. I have been having the exact same issue with my iPod Touch and a Bad Elf Pro BT GPS. The posted cure worked for me

I suspect this may be a recurring issue as it all worked well for several months before manifesting itself

I think it is also going to cure a similar problem with another app that has had problems accepting data from the GPS

I wonder if Apple are interested?

I use the Bad Elf Pro model and can confirm that one works seamlessly with PE on the iPad. I especially like the fact that it can be kept in a pocket for example while the device is in use. I also use it with an iPod Touch for navigation on my m/c . Being able to record a track log without the Apple device switched on is also a plus

I have downloaded and had a play with Go Map! but cannot find your first suggested app – do you have a link?

Thanks for suggestion, will follow it up

I wish there were an iOS app like Pushpin that allowed one to tag or edit such OSM data. I hardly ever turn my PC on these days as smartphones/tablets et al cater much better to the immediacy of tasks like these

Edit – just noted some apps that don’t require Flash for editing ways in OSM – will try one of them

Interestingly, the mulitude of footpaths shown just to the south in my screenshot, are purpose built cycle paths in a leisure biking project!

Your own help explanation of the DM format shows a precision to four decimal places

    DM (Degree-Minute)

    Examples:
    48d12.5667’N 16d22.1667″E
    48:12.5667N 16:22.1667E

Sorry, I should have been more explicit, and yes, it was the DM.mm format that I was referring to

Thanks for the reply but could you please amplify ” For now you can also enter DM coord via the wheels simply by setting the S wheel to 0.”
