Glad you mentioned that fix – it could be important for others in the future
January 24, 2023 at 9:52 pm in reply to: Roads of a certain type nearly invisible in OSM Classic view #47236Hi BuckyE – good to hear of/from you again
Thanks for your explanation/s re visibility but if the PE developers do pick up the reins again the possibility of a “on the fly” transparency option would be a good starting point IMHO.
Out of interest I will have a scout round the OSM forums to see what if anything has been said about emphasising the text of village, town and city names
I have recently been playing and investing in the MyRoute app. It is a powerful tool for those who require different mapping platforms besides OSM but the range of subscriptions, options and menus make PE a beacon of utility and user friendliness!
All the best
Indeed, and the rest of the website …
Server up and running at this time but I see we still have the issue with multiple attachments!
Seems intermittent. I was able to access the server Friday afternoon but it went off a few hours later. Saturday morning now and all seems good again
Jochen, that was a classic example of thinking outside the box …
Excellent, many thanks
Interesting – the command text appears but is not actioned. What is the actual phrase you use to, say, zoom out three times?
Yes, you have to use the zoom control commands. It works for me but the increments are annoyingly small. It is a shame that we can no longer display zoom levels rather than map scales as I think the API might have allowed us to just call for a particular zoom number
One of the less obvious advantages of growing old is that the hearing aids I am about to purchase have BT enabled microphones baked in that will allow me direct access to Voice Control! Sad isn’t it …
April 5, 2022 at 8:08 am in reply to: Roads of a certain type nearly invisible in OSM Classic view #26106I have to agree with you on this issue. Not wanting to hijack your post but on a similar vein tracks and routes often obscure important details details on roads. So, for instance, the junction numbers on motorways are buried regardless of any colour selected for the route
The whole issue of screen “readability” deserves discussion,.Town and village names arguably need highlighting among other things – but how much of this is under the control of PE?
No, it is still a third party engine but one with full access to the latest OSM data and very fast
… a very impressive new routing engine
It does seem to open the menu page but almost instantly proceeds to the Home page
I am experiencing the same with iOS 14 in both 3.7.1 and b5
Can you tell us if this is in the default map view or after creating a route or track?
Do you have an iPad?
Ah, thanks. I was confused by the word “setting” in the Help file
Am not sure why multiple images are appearing
A couple of interesting cycle apps there Johan – do you know which routeing engine they use?
Here is an example I encounter regularly. Although there are plenty of GPS track traces in available in OSM, Mapquest has very few. This suggests to me that the OSM/Mapquest “divorce” is the issue
The A49 road has been around since Emperor Hadrian came to the UK (!) bus you can see PE routes southbound on this bypass but the northbound route, even with the addition of Control Points, does not recognise it
I regularly submit tracklogs for this route but they never show up in the Mapquest displayed tracks on their website

You must be logged in to view attached files. After a little more digging https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/MapQuest it would appear that PE and it’s current routing engine may have come up against a brick wall “MapQuest ceased offering an OpenStreetMap service (Open MapQuest) in 2015” What might that mean for PE going forward?
