Having spent a lifetime working in what I belived to be Technology, my understanding is the the term defines a process that uses a technical solution to solve or produce and outcome. This can be Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic etc. Computing is just one use of Technology.

It was a feature, but it has a problem that has yet to be resolved when handling large amounts of data. i.e. many waypoints.

Pocket Earth is such a good general purpose mapping and GPS app. It is also a great car touring app with GPS point to point guidance but it is surely lacking (for a long time now) Car Play compatibility. This is much needed and would bring the App into a much broader market. Abe?

Hi @buckyE, good to see you here again. 3.8 B15 has now been intergrated with the Pubic release which is good to see. There were so many good new features I was pleased to see have been adopted, like the extra icons for use with waypoints.

Hi Rick, it’s very easy to amend POI’s etc.

    1. Click on a POI or waypoint
    2. Click on Groups
    3. Move (or search) to the group you and tick it and/or any other group you want it in
    4. Move to any group you don’t want it in (it will be ticked) and just untick it.
    5. Tick “close” and you done

BTW if you want only one group of pins to show, click and hold a group and only they will show.

    Hope this helps

Since iOS7.1 (i think) and at least on the iPad its possible to configure the lock switch to either mute sound or lock the screen orientation. I set it to the 2nd as it suits me more.  Interesting to note it is possible to build this function into apps as GoodReader has had this function for some time.

    @buckye
PE could be useful to all kinds of people doing things/gathering or
generating information “out in the field,” so to speak. I don’t know,
archaeologists, or somebody. Although perhaps specialists have
specialized software! ….. It would be handy to be able to use PE to show map areas that correspond to the Lists!

I’m with you on this one. Following the Tour de France for many year and now it is another use I put PE to and this event certaily refers to départements on a day to day basis. And I agree with the analogy in the USA where Countys are very similar to départements in France.

Hi, I havn’t visited here for a while but am a daily user of PocketEarth and wonder if this feature is still being considered. For me it is still the most sought after as it would allow seeing a map with just the POI’s of interest at the time of viewing.

Great stuff. PE is now one of my major apps, next to Evernote and Goodreader in importance and my only mapping app. And is the highest data usage of my apps at approx. 9.0Gb. I constantly remove other data so I can update PE maps.

+1. I Agee with this idea. I would love to be able to store my own maps on my PC, but in addition it would be great to have a PC version of PE. Why be restricted to just mobile use.
